Introduction This guide has been prepared to help visiting photographers who have limited experience of working in a digital studio Particularly important Studio flash lights are typically much more powerful than built-in or on-camera flash guns and they need to be triggered by your camera This means that your camera must: 1) be settable for manual exposure and have a PC or `hotshoe' to provide an output to the studio flash ( if you have a Minolta Dynax you need a PCT100 pt no 8825-691 adapter to hotshoe ) or 2) be capable of handling very bright external flash automatically (this is unusual and only a few of the new digital compacts have such a facility) Before your booking Please make sure that you are well prepared. It helps the shoot run smoothly if you prepare a simple `storyboard' before your booking and helps us if we can see it a day or two earlier This should indicate style of the models outfit, the lens you plan to use, proposed background and lighting style On the day In addition to the rather essential camera and lens(es), we suggest you bring a tripod and if you have one, a lightmeter. You should think about note taking Everyone runs out of film and forgets black and white - if digital bring stacks of storage Sometimes photographers would prefer to bring sandwiches to save the shoot getting held up for lunch please read about Safety |
