Introduction
This guide has been prepared to introduce both new and experienced models
to photographic portrait sessions at the .
We take photographs for both industry and the public Preparation
Select clothes in which you feel that you look your best
These can be Vogue and/or very casual if that's how you are! You MUST
bring a variety of outfits and colours NOT just black and white
Solid colours are better than patterns. Close fitting clothes are usually
better except track suits
Bring appropriate shoes for each outfit
Make sure your clothes are spotlessly clean and pressed properly if
required.
At least one off-the-shoulder or bikini top is desirable
Bring at least 5 changes
Be sure to bring suitable underwear, both shape and colour
Makeup for our castings should be as you would be for a Saturday night
out - if you do wild modern make-up - risk it !
Nail polish if worn should be freshly done before arrival at the studio.
Your body, teeth and hair should be freshly cleaned, ready to shoot
- also bring what ever you need to fix it, especially if long and it
will go up or in a ponytail etc. Hair should be tidy.
Tan lines should not show when you are ready to shoot.
Drink lots of water for 3 days before the shoot and do NOT drink booze
and party the night before.
Any jewellery should work with whatever you are wearing.
If you ever wear a hat, bring it. If your hobby allows, bring a simple
prop to hold eg violin, teddy bear etc.
If you have any favourite pictures bring them along as a sample of what
you would like taken.
If you have favourite CD's or tapes bring them and we'll listen to them
while working. If you want to bring a friend/minder that's fine and
can often be very helpful during the session but there will be a lot
of hanging around.
NOTE minders, boyfriends and parents who do not follow our guidance
can lose you the session.
On arrival
be ON TIME, other people may be booked around you and we serve the people
who turn up at the right time
The studio is a completely non-smoking area but coffee and tea are always
on the go
If you wear contact lenses they will have to come out for the actual
picture taking
We have plenty of privacy for changing clothes
Show the photographer the clothes you have brought so that we can set
up the appropriate colour in the studio backgrounds Make-up, fix hair
and change into the first outfit
The session
Once we start, the quicker the model is when changing the more pictures
we'll get
All the pictures will be taken with a professional flash system in a
dimmed studio, although sometimes we venture outside if the sun is nice
You will be expected to sit in our `light tunnel'
for a number of portrait shots and then pose standing for some full
length pictures in our fashion cove
Castings take less than an hour, but it will depend on how many
models attend. There maybe at least 2 photographers and usually other
would-be models around TFP sessions
are usually 2-3 hours and one-on-one
Test shoots are normally 3 hours
Paid-for portraits will be for the time booked but the number of
pictures will depend greatly on how long you take to change!
Pictures
Session pictures will be taken with a digital camera and are viewable
immediately after being taken
If no-one is waiting to be photographed, we normally provide at least
one A4 laser print chosen by the model from the session and a contact
sheet to choice We can also produce a CD-ROM
of all the pictures taken during the shoot for the model to take away
Castings and TFP
