Open Studios

June

2006

The BAKERY is pushing the boat out for BVA Open Studios in 2006

We are exhibiting using a virtual gallery

( Basically this is three 42" plasma TVs in our blacked out studio 5 driven by software I am still writing !)

Since it will take 2 days to build and knock down, we have decided to run the BAKERY Open Studios for the whole 9 days, June 10th to 18th

This means we will have an opportunity to show zillions of images

If you were directed to this page you are invited as a BAKERY customer to show pictures

The main benefit is that you don't need to print/mount/frame your work to exhibit it, just submit it on a disk

We need your pictures !

The plan is to show small sets of between 4 and 8 pictures per set - could be as many as 10 but they would have be very strong and be able to hold a watching crowd for a WHOLE MINUTE !

Each picture in the set will be displayed for something like 6 seconds

As soon as the set is run the next set will almost certainly be by another photographer

The sets will all be run once and then jumbled up and run again and again and again !!

Each set should be pictures that have some common link - all faces or all wide angle or all trains etc etc

We will accept anything from one set to 50 sets per invited photographer - talk to Myk if you have more !

The format for the sets is as follows:

pictures should be 1024 pixels or more high - the width is probably irrelevant since we are using 16x9 format TVs

the file format should be hi-res JPG or TIFF or PhotoShop files

each set of 4-8 pictures should be in a folder named with a suitable title for the set which will be displayed by the viewing software

each set should also include a short 'artists statement' which should be called 'words.jpg' and if appropriate this can be the same in every set

details for this will be supplied as soon as we have the TVs actually running !!

I need an email from would be participants and a rough idea of how many sets you will submit

The pictures need to be with me by May 31st on a CD or DVD please

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO NOT SHOW IMAGES WHICH WE FEEL ARE NOT CHILD-FRIENDLY BUT WE

WILL BE SHOWING POLITE NUDES
